MAMFT is the state chapter of The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), a national organization that represents the professional interests and development of over 25,000 marriage and family therapists.

It keeps members informed of the problems, needs, and changing patterns in couple and family relationships. AAMFT has connected the public with trained professionals for over seventy years, providing professionals with the latest clinical findings through various venues, including internet materials and national and regional conferences.
AAMFT has developed rigorous standards for graduate education and post-graduate training, clinical supervision, and professional ethics, ensuring that marriage and family therapists provide consumers with quality services. It publishes the nationally-renowned Journal of Marital and Family Therapy four times a year, sharing scholarly research about our field. The Family Therapy Magazine, also features current trends and practical applications of marriage and family therapy. AAMFT also offers an extensive array of films, books, and brochures.
AAMFT hosts an annual conference that promotes current studies in marriage and family therapy.
