About the Symposium
Couples who see us to talk about their relationships are also often struggling with their relational and personal sexuality. Sex therapy training is often absent in a therapist’s education. Although this presentation will not substitute for the extensive training required to be a Sex Therapist, it will introduce concepts and ways of operating that will be helpful when working with intimate relationships. Desire discrepancies, the role of masturbation and pornography, the use of erotic fantasy, and the fear of sexual pleasure will be some of the topics that will be introduced in this day long examination of sexuality and couples therapy. Multiple case studies will be provided throughout the course. At the end of this day, therapists will be a lot more comfortable talking about sex and intimacy.
This course will contain explicit sexual material. Much of the subject matter will be graphically discussing aspects of human sexuality and relational sexuality. Persons who are at all uncomfortable with such discussions should not attend.
This course will offer 5 CEs for LMFT, LMHC, and social workers.
